We make the software. You keep the money.
ChooseASquare is a platform for running sports pools, contests and fundraisers — the kind a booster club runs every autumn, the kind an office runs every February, and the kind a church or PTA runs to pay for something specific. We handle the part that used to eat a commissioner’s weekend: collecting entries, chasing who’s paid, scoring every week, and working out who won.
What we don’t do is touch your money. That’s not a feature we added — it’s the decision the whole product is built around.
We never take a cut
Not a percentage, not a rake, not a “small platform fee” skimmed off the top. If your pool collects $8,500, the whole $8,500 is yours to pay out and keep. Our revenue comes from organizers paying for software, and nowhere else.
We never hold your money
Supporters pay you directly — Venmo, PayPal, check or cash. The money goes from your players to you without passing through us, so there is no escrow, no payout delay, no account freeze, and nothing of yours for us to sit on. We use Stripe only to bill organizers for their own subscription.
Your players never pay a fee
No service charge bolted onto a $20 entry, no convenience fee at checkout. What you charge is what they pay — which matters when the person buying a square is a parent at your school.
Far more than squares
Most of what people run on ChooseASquare now lasts a whole season, not one afternoon.
NFL Pick’Em (straight-up or against the spread), Confidence pools, Survivor/Eliminator — including loser-pool and ATS variants with frozen spreads — and Power Points. All auto-scored from live results, straight through the playoffs.
A real draft room with snake or auction drafts and season-long fantasy scoring off live box scores, plus golf and NASCAR roster pools for a single event or a whole season.
The classic 10×10 grid for one game, series and playoff squares you ride all season, and Century Club numbered-ticket raffles.
Any single-elimination tournament bracket, and pure fundraisers that need no game at all — Calendar Cash, where supporters pick days and chip in each date’s value, and Adopt A Square, a giving grid with a price on every square.
Yes, we’re called ChooseASquare
We started with squares because it’s the pool everyone already understands — you don’t have to explain a 10×10 grid to anyone. The name stuck, and it’s now a fair bit narrower than what we actually do: the same account runs an 18-week Confidence pool, a Survivor pool through the Super Bowl, a live fantasy draft, a March bracket, or a calendar fundraiser with no game attached at all.
So if you came here for a season-long pool and wondered whether you were in the right place: you are.
Organizers pay for software. That’s the whole model.
We’d rather you read this here than work it out at checkout.
- Free — run a contest with manual tools, up to 10 entries (or one grid for squares). No card, no trial clock.
- Contest Pass — a one-time payment covering a single contest with the full commissioner toolkit, priced by how many people are playing. For someone running one pool a season, this is usually the cheapest way and there is nothing to cancel.
- Pro Commissioner — $99.50/year — every tool, across up to 5 contests running at once.
- Organization — $199.50/year — unlimited contests and seats, the whole fundraising suite, your own branding and sponsors.
- Add-ons — a few capabilities most organizers never need (like the fundraising suite) are sold separately, one-time per contest or monthly, so everyone else isn’t paying for them.
Volunteers, mostly
The person running the pool is usually a team parent, a booster treasurer, a coach or an office ringleader doing this on top of a job. They are not looking for a dashboard to master — they want the thing to run itself and the money to add up. That’s the bar we build to: if a feature needs a manual, it isn’t finished.
Plenty of our pools aren’t fundraisers at all — offices, friend groups, families and bars run them purely for fun, with every dollar going to the winners. Both are welcome, and the organizer decides which it is.
A small operation, on purpose
ChooseASquare is built and run by a very small team that answers its own support email. When you write in, you reach someone who can change the product — not a queue. That’s also why the no-cut promise is safe to make: we don’t have investors expecting a percentage of your fundraiser.
