Everyone knows squares from the Super Bowl — one grid, one game, one afternoon. Season Squares takes that same simple game and stretches it across the entire NFL season. A supporter buys a square once; it’s theirs every week. Each week draws fresh numbers and funds its own pot, and every game that week has a winning square. Add a cut for your program and you’ve got a season-long fundraiser that pays out constantly and practically runs itself.

Why it works

A whole season on one square

🏈

Every game, every week

Not one Super Bowl grid — the whole season. Each week has its own pot, and every game that week has a winning square. There’s always something on the line, from Week 1 through the playoffs.

🎟️

Buy once, play all season

A supporter buys a square a single time and it’s theirs every week. Numbers redraw fresh each week, so a “bad” square one week is a fresh shot the next — and one payment keeps them engaged for months.

🤖

Runs itself

The NFL schedule auto-loads. Draw every week’s numbers in one click (or let auto-draw handle it before each week), enter scores, and hit Settle — the app picks the winners and splits the pot for you.

The math

See what a season can raise

Set your weekly price, how many squares sell, the season length, and your cut. Every week pays out — but your cut adds up all season.

Set it up

Four steps to kickoff

1

Create the pool

Start a new contest → Series & Playoff Squares, and choose the “Weekly pot” style. That’s the season-long, every-game-wins mode.

2

Set price & season

Pick a price per square per week, the week to start on, and whether to include the playoffs. We load the NFL schedule and price the square automatically (weekly price × number of weeks).

3

Draw the numbers

Click “Draw numbers for all weeks” to set them up front, or flip on Auto-draw and each week draws itself a couple days before kickoff.

4

Score, settle & pay

Each week, enter final scores and hit Settle. The week’s pot splits evenly across its games, winners are picked automatically, and you mark each one paid as you go.

Every setup option

Dial it in for your group

Season Squares is deliberately simple to run, but you control the parts that matter.

Price per square, per week
The heart of the model. Say $5/week: a supporter pays $5 × the number of weeks (e.g. 22 with playoffs = $110), once, up front. Each week’s pot is that weekly price × the squares sold.
Start week
Begin on Week 1 or jump in mid-season — pick any starting week and the pool (and the price) only cover the weeks from there on. Great for a “second-half” pool.
Include playoffs
Add the four playoff weeks (wild-card → Super Bowl) to the season. It extends the schedule and the upfront price; leave it off to run the 18-week regular season only.
One square, all season
Buyers pick their square once and keep it every week — no re-buying. The main grid shows who owns what for the whole season.
Fresh numbers each week
One set of numbers per week, shared by every game that week (your square might be 8–2 one week, 0–5 the next). Nothing to set up per game — it’s automatic.
Draw all weeks vs. auto-draw
Draw every week’s numbers in a single click at setup, or turn on Auto-draw so each week’s numbers appear ~2 days before that week starts (keeps later weeks hidden for mid-season buyers).
Even split across games
Each week’s pot is divided evenly among that week’s games — 15 games and a $500 pot means about $33 per winning square. No per-game prize setup required.
Pay winners weekly
Winners are settled and paid after each week, not held to the end of the season. Every week shows what’s owed and a one-tap “Mark paid” for each winner.
Limit squares per person
Optionally cap how many squares one person can buy, to keep the grid spread across your supporters.
Public or invite-only
List the pool so anyone can find and join it, or keep it invite-only and share a single link with your group.
Make it a fundraiser

Turn the pot into money for your program

On the payouts screen, set your cut — a percentage or a flat amount your program keeps. It comes off the top of every week’s pot before that pot is split across the week’s games, so your program earns a little every single week, all season long. A 20% cut on a $500 weekly pot keeps $100 for you and pays out $400; over a 22-week season that’s real money.

Supporters pay your organization directly by Venmo, PayPal, cash, or check — ChooseASquare never touches the money and takes no cut, so 100% of what you keep goes to your program. Prefer a pure prize pool? Set the cut to 0% and everything pays back out to the players.

FAQ

Season Squares, answered

How is this different from regular Super Bowl squares?
Regular squares is one grid for one game. This is a season: you buy a square once and it plays in every game, every week, all season long. Each week gets fresh numbers and its own pot, and every game that week has a winner — so there’s a payout happening constantly, not just once.
How does the money work?
Each week’s pot equals your weekly price × the number of squares sold. That week’s pot (minus any fundraiser cut) is split evenly across that week’s games, and each game’s winning square is paid. Buyers pay the full season up front — weekly price × number of weeks — so you’re not chasing weekly payments.
How do I turn it into a fundraiser?
Set a “cut” for your program on the payouts screen — a percentage (or flat amount) that comes off the top of every week’s pot before it’s split among the games. The rest pays the winners. Supporters pay your organization directly; ChooseASquare never holds the money or takes a slice, so your entire cut stays with your program.
How much can it raise?
Multiply it out: weekly price × squares sold × weeks × your cut. At $5/week, 100 squares, a 22-week season and a 20% cut, that’s $11,000 collected and $2,200 raised — while $8,800 pays out across the season. Use the calculator above to model your own numbers.
Do I have to set up numbers and prizes for every game?
No — that’s the whole point. There’s one set of numbers per week (the same for every game), and the pot splits evenly across games automatically. Click “Draw numbers for all weeks” once, or use Auto-draw, and you’re done. (If you want hand-set, per-game prizes instead, use the classic “One pot” Series mode.)
Can I start mid-season?
Yes. Choose any starting week when you create the pool and it runs from there to the end of the season (plus playoffs if you include them). The upfront price only covers the weeks you’re actually playing.
When do winners get paid?
Weekly. After you settle a week, that week’s winners are set and you can mark each one paid right away — you’re not waiting until the season ends. Every week shows the total still owed.
Do players pay a platform fee?
No. Players pay only the price you set, directly to your organization. You can run the whole thing on the free plan and keep 100% of your cut. (Weekly-pot Season Squares is a Series & Playoff Squares feature on the Pro Commissioner plan.)
