Calendar Cash (Choose A Date) fundraiser commissioners · 6 min read

Calendar Cash (also called “Choose A Date”) is a pure giving fundraiser — there’s no game, no numbers, and no winners. Each seller gets their own calendar for a month; supporters pick the days that mean something to them and give the sum of the dates they pick — the 2nd plus the 31st is $33, the 12th alone is $12.

Because nothing pays back out as a prize, every dollar collected goes to your program. This guide covers every setting you control: the goal, per-seller calendars and the leaderboard, how supporters pick and pay, and closing the drive out.

Creating your calendar

One screen: pick the month, a per-date capacity, and (optionally) a goal and end date.

Month & year
The first calendar month for this fundraiser. You can add more months as separate calendars later to extend the drive.
People per date
How many supporters can claim the same date — default 1. Raise it to let multiple people sponsor the same day, which lets a calendar raise well beyond its face value.
Organization fundraising goal
Optional total target across every seller’s calendar. Drives the live progress meter on your overview and on each seller’s calendar page.
Fundraiser end date
Optional cutoff — supporters can’t pick dates after this time. Leave it blank to run with no end date.

Sellers & the leaderboard

Each seller gets their own copy of the calendar and a personal link — every date they sell is credited to them.

Add sellers
Add players, volunteers, or family members by email (they get a login + selling dashboard) or with no account at all (a link-only tracking page — handy for a kid without email).
Personal seller linksPro
Each seller shares their own calendar link; every date claimed through it is attributed to them automatically.
Per-seller goal & dashboardPro
Each seller sees their own full-calendar goal and progress meter, separate from the org total.
Seller leaderboard & top-seller prizesPro
Live standings across sellers, so you can reward whoever sells the most dates — a little competition raises far more.

How supporters give

Pick days, pay the sum
A supporter taps open days on a seller’s calendar; the total is the sum of the date numbers picked (e.g. the 5th + 12th + 20th = $37).
Payment methods
Set on the Settings tab: Venmo, PayPal, check, and/or cash instructions. Supporters pay you directly through the app’s in-app payment step at checkout — you never route money through us, and there’s no platform cut.
One-tap pay link
For Venmo/PayPal, the app opens a deep link with the amount prefilled so the supporter just confirms and sends.
Assign & release dates
From the calendar overview, hand-assign open dates to a cash buyer (mark them paid on the spot), or release a taken date back to open if a pledge falls through.
Mark pledges paid
Every pledge shows on the Pledges list with the payer, dates, amount, and method — mark it paid once you’ve received it, or undo/cancel it.

Progress meters & urgency

Org goal meter
A live “raised so far / goal” bar on your contest overview and on the public calendar pages.
Per-seller progressPro
Each seller’s card shows their own raised amount against their personal goal and how many dates they’ve sold.
Countdown barPro
A live countdown with your own custom message on the public calendar page, for a final push before the deadline.

Running & closing it out

Add another month
Extend the drive by adding more months as separate calendars, each with its own capacity — a great way to turn a one-month push into a season-long campaign.
Overview calendar
See who sponsored each date, per seller or combined across all sellers, with a live count against your per-date capacity.
CSV export & reportsPro
Export the full pledge list for your records.
No winners — just giving
There’s no drawing and no prize to pay out. When the month (or drive) ends, thank your supporters and archive the contest — everything collected already went straight to your program.

FAQ

How does a Calendar Cash / Choose A Date fundraiser work?

Each seller gets a calendar for a month. Supporters pick open days and give the sum of the date numbers they pick — the 2nd plus the 31st is $33, the 12th alone is $12. Fill a whole 30-day month and you’ve raised about $465.

Are there winners or prizes?

No — Calendar Cash is a pure fundraiser. There’s no game, no numbers board, and no drawing. Every dollar collected goes straight to your program.

Can more than one supporter claim the same day?

By default, one supporter per date. You can raise the per-date capacity when you create the calendar so multiple people can sponsor the same day.

How do supporters pay, and does ChooseASquare take a cut?

They pay you directly through the app’s in-app payment step — Venmo, PayPal, check, or cash, whichever you’ve set up on the Settings tab. ChooseASquare never holds the money and takes no percentage.

Can multiple people sell calendars for us?

Yes. Add as many sellers as you like — each gets their own calendar and personal link, and every date sold through it is credited to them. Per-seller goals and a leaderboard are available on Pro Commissioner.

Can we run more than one month?

Yes — add more months as separate calendars to extend the drive, each with its own capacity and progress.
