How this bracket works

2026: fourteen teams, with only the 1 seed in each conference on a bye

Fourteen teams make the playoffs, seven from each conference: the four division winners seeded 1 to 4 by record, and the three best non-division winners as the 5, 6 and 7 seeds. Wild Card weekend is 2 against 7, 3 against 6 and 4 against 5, every game at the higher seed, while the 1 seed in each conference has the week off.

The NFL reseeds after every round rather than following a fixed tree, so the 1 seed always hosts the lowest seed still alive in the Divisional round, and the other two winners meet. That is why the Divisional slots on a blank bracket say which seed hosts rather than naming a winner in advance: who plays the 1 seed depends on which Wild Card games go to form.

It prints landscape on a single sheet, AFC on the left, NFC on the right and the Super Bowl in the middle, with no site navigation and no browser header. The last one ended Seattle Seahawks 29, New England Patriots 13, in Super Bowl LX; that bracket is one click away below.

Questions people ask

How do I print the NFL playoff bracket?

Press "Print this bracket". The sheet is laid out landscape on one page and prints on its own: the navigation, the buttons and the rest of the page are left off, and because the page margin is set by the sheet your browser will not add its own URL-and-date header. No account, no watermark, no email.

How many teams make the NFL playoffs?

Fourteen, seven per conference, since the 2020 season. It was twelve from 1990 to 2019, ten from 1978 to 1989 (sixteen in the 1982 strike season), and eight from the 1970 merger to 1977. Every one of those formats is drawn on its own season page below.

Who gets a bye in the NFL playoffs?

Only the 1 seed in each conference, since 2020. From 1990 to 2019 the top two seeds in each conference had a bye. A team on a bye goes straight to the Divisional round and hosts the lowest seed left.

Does the NFL reseed the playoffs?

Yes. After Wild Card weekend the highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed, and the higher seed always hosts. There is no fixed path through the bracket the way there is in the NCAA tournament, which is why a printable NFL bracket has to show the Divisional matchups as seeds rather than as lines from one game to the next.

Can I print a bracket from a past NFL season?

Every season since the 1970 merger, each with its seeds, every score, overtime games marked, and the Super Bowl it ended in. Use the season list below, or the arrows on any season page to step a year at a time.

Can I run a pool off the NFL playoffs?

This sheet is for following along by hand. If you want people to have something riding on every game, playoff squares give each game its own grid, Super Bowl squares are the classic one-game board, and a playoff pick’em has everybody pick each round and scores itself as the results come in.

Every NFL playoff bracket, 1970 to 2025

One printable bracket per season, drawn the way that postseason actually ran: eight teams through 1977, ten from 1978, the strike season’s sixteen in 1982, twelve from 1990 and fourteen since 2020. Each page has every seed and every score, and the Super Bowl it ended in.

Want the pool, not just the paper?

A printed bracket is for following along. To give your office or group something riding on every game, run playoff squares with a grid per game, Super Bowl squares, or a playoff pick’em that scores itself as the results come in.
